Anna Sewell was born in 1820 in Norfolk. Through persistent difficulties with her health, Sewell wrote the classic children's novel Black Beauty, which has been credited with drawing widespread attention to animal cruelty. Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was an English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist. He was born in India, which inspired much of his work. Kenneth Grahame (1859–1932) was a Scottish writer, most famous for one of the all-time classics of children’s literature, The Wind in the Willows, as well as for The Reluctant Dragon.
