It's been eight years since the bombs fell and the dead rose, and the world has become a very dangerous place. But unlike most folks, former Army Ranger Scratch Sullivan is getting by just fine.

Sure, it's hell on earth, but Scratch seems to fit in. He makes his living by hunting the dead, vampires and zombies alike, with the odd revenant thrown in for good measure.

It's not a bad life, for a battle-hardened spec ops soldier. And to this point, he's been content with how things turned out.

But now some vamp says the undead are about to attack the safe zone settlements Scratch protects. Maybe it's a load of bull, maybe not. But it's been too damned quiet, and Scratch's intuition tells him it's time to check things out for himself.

So, he's headed into the badlands where no one's safe, to see if that vamp was blowing smoke, or if a war is coming.
