“The essays contained in the sample were simply shattering. All women certainly have had to grapple with the idea of body, and how much or little value it is given. As a model though, Emily has a unique perspective and quite literal experience with this and writes about it in a way that is so interesting that I couldn't stop reading. She reveals extremely personal details of an experiences of sexual assault with men in a position of power over her, and names names--speaking truth to power. The essay describing her experience with Korean spas is so grounding and cleansing, and was by far my favorite. Contrasted with her feelings of detachment and dissociation from her body, it stood out. Though I was not necessarily encouraged by the inclusion of both Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham as endorsements, I was blown away by this collections and I look forward to reading any more essays included in the final! ”
