William Wordsworth (1770โ€“1850) is one of the most popular and enduring of the English poets. His poetry is beloved for its deep feeling, its use of ordinary speech, and its celebration of nature and of the beauty and poetry in the commonplace. Together with his friend, the poet and political activist Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Wordsworth helped launch the romantic age in English literature. These poems demonstrate the astonishing range and beauty of Wordsworthโ€™s work and his sustained, coherent vision.

William Wordsworthย (1770โ€“1850) was an influential English poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped launch the Romantic Age of English literature with the 1798 joint publication ofย Lyrical Ballads. He was Britainโ€™s Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death in 1850.

Frederick Davidson (1932โ€“2005), also known as David Case, was one of the most prolific readers in the audiobook industry, recording more than eight hundred audiobooks in his lifetime, including over two hundred for Blackstone Audio. Born in London, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and performed for many years in radio plays for the British Broadcasting Company before coming to America in 1976. He received AudioFileโ€™s Golden Voice Award and numerous Earphones Awards and was nominated for a Grammy for his readings.

Reviews

“[Wordsworth’s poetry] is great because of the extraordinary power with which [he] feels the joy offered to us in nature, the joy offered to us in the simple elementary affections and duties.”

โ€œWhat made Wordsworthโ€™s poems a medicine for my state of mind was that they expressed not mere outward beauty but states of feeling and of thought colored by feeling, under the excitement of beauty. They seemed to be the very culture of the feelings which I was in quest of.โ€

โ€œThe confusions and contradictions of Wordsworthโ€™s young life, fed into the complex, subtle power of his great works.โ€

โ€œPerhaps the most celebrated and lastingly influential of the English Romantic poetsโ€ฆa monumental figure in English letters.โ€
