NOW A MAJOR TELEVISION SERIES STARRING NATALIE DORMER (GAME OF THRONES) AND YAEL STONE (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK).

Everyone agreed that the day was just right for the picnic to Hanging Rock – a shimmering summer morning warm and still, with cicadas shrilling …

St Valentine’s Day, in the midst of the hot summer of 1900, a party of schoolgirls went on a picnic to Hanging Rock.

Some were never to return …

An Australian classic, the disappearance of three girls and a schoolteacher at Hanging Rock has captivated and intrigued audiences for generations.

Yael Stone’s narration of the bestselling novel captures all of the beauty of the Rock and illustrates the eerie sense of the unknown for which the story is legendary.

Joan Lindsay was born in Melbourne, where she went to school as a day-girl for a few years at Clyde Girls Grammar, then situated in East St Kilda. She knew and loved the Macedon district – the area in which The Picnic at Haging Rock is set from early childhood. In 1922, in London, she married Sir Daryl Lindsay. The Lindsays travelled together in Europe and the USA, Daryl with his paints and Joan with her typewriter. Sir Daryl died in 1976. Joan lived at their country home on the Mornington Peninsula, Mulberry Hill, Victoria, Australia. She died in December 1984.

Yael Stone has worked extensively in the Australian film, television and theatre industry. A NIDA graduate she cut her teeth at 13 years old in her first professional role and never looked back. Yael is best known for her portrayal of Lorna Morello in the Netflix original series Orange is the New Black, a truly global phenomenon which has been honoured with the SAG Award for Outstanding Comedy Ensemble in 2015, 2016 & 2017, and nominated for the 2014 and 2015 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Drama. Yael’s performance as Morello has earned her critical acclaim worldwide. For HBO Yael plays much loved mushroom dealer/dog walker/bartender Beth in the WGA Award-winning series High Maintenance. She went toe to toe with Charles Dance as Peretta in the SyFy series based on Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood’s End. Yael joined an all-star cast for the film Wilde Wedding, working alongside screen legends Glenn Close, John Malkovich and Sir Patrick Stewart. Yael received a TV Week Logie Award nomination for Most Outstanding Actress for her portrayal of Tori Lustigman in Deep Water (Blackfella Films and SBS) starring alongside Noah Taylor. Yael’s portrayal of Dora Lumley in Picnic At Hanging Rock (Foxtel and Fremantle Media) alongside Natalie Dormer earned international praise following the release of the miniseries’ world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival. Yael is a proud board member of Liberation Prison Yoga and a Global Ambassador for AIME.
