Enter a world of dragon politics and missing librarians โ€“ in 1920s New York City. Immerse yourself in The Lost Plot, the fourth gripping instalment in the Invisible Library series from Genevieve Cogman.

A covert mission. A royal demand. And a race against time.

In a 1920s-style America, Prohibition is in force, fedoras and flapper dresses are in fashion โ€“ and intrepid librarians Irene and Kai find themselves caught in a fierce dragon duel.

A demanding queen has ordered her heirs to find a rare book, and it seems a young librarian has become tangled in the conflict. If Irene and Kai can't extricate him, there could be grave political fallout for the library. This could even trigger war.

Irene and Kai's quest: to outsmart gangsters, evade security, rescue the librarian and retrieve the book. If they can't, it could have dire consequences for Irene's job. And, incidentally, for her life . . .

Continue the literary magic with The Mortal Word, the next step in this enchanting historical fantasy.

Praise for the series:

'I absolutely loved this' โ€“ N. K. Jemisin, author of The Fifth Season

'Irene is a great heroine: fiery, resourceful and no one's fool' โ€“ The Guardian

'Cogman keeps upping the ante on this delightful series!' โ€“ Charles Stross, author of the Merchant Princes series

Genevieve Cogman started on Tolkien and Sherlock Holmes at an early age, and has never looked back. But on a perhaps more prosaic note, she has an MSc in Statistics with Medical Applications and has wielded this in an assortment of jobs: clinical coder, data analyst and classifications specialist. Although The Invisible Library was her debut novel, she previously worked as a freelance roleplaying-game writer. She is the author of the Invisible Library series and the bestselling Scarlet Revolution trilogy. Genevieveโ€™s hobbies include patchwork, beading, knitting and gaming, and she lives in the north of England.

Reviews

Reminiscent of the works of Diana Wynne Jones . . . Cogman’s novel is a true treat Part spy mystery, part steampunk fantasy, The Masked City is a joy to read and Cogman makes it look effortless Brilliant and so much fun. Skulduggery, Librarians, and Dragons - Cogman keeps upping the ante on this delightful series! A fun, adventure-filled romp . . . magic, adventure, Sherlock Holmes I absolutely loved this . . . flavoured with truly unique mythology and a dash of the eldritch Very much in the humorous and satirical tradition of Discworld Expand reviews
