From the mind of the man Stephen King calls “a master of the macabre,” comes a brilliant new collection of no-punches-pulled horror stories, some never before collected and many originals that have never been published anywhere before. Bentley Little can take the innocuous, twist it around, and write a story that will change your way of thinking. Walking Alone: Short Stories is a shining example of his talent to scare you, creep you out, and make you shudder.

Bentley Little is the author of numerous horror novels, including The Mailman, The Influence, and The Haunted.

Read by Traber Burns, Keith Szarabajka, Adenrele Ojo, Kevin Kenerly, Hillary Huber, Carrington MacDuffie, Mirron Willis, Kirby Heyborne, Priya Ayyar, Neil Shah, Thom Rivera, and Scott Brick

Chris Andrew Ciulla is a versatile performer with over 50 audiobook credits to his name. The genres of his titles range from mystery/thriller to sci-fi, to fantasy and romance. He also excels at sports-related nonfiction, being a former sports radio host and frequent show guest. He's a boxing expert who is a commentator for professional matches. In addition to frequent film, television, and on-camera commercial work, Chris has voiced characters for the popular video game titles Fallout 4 and Mafia III, and can be heard in national commercial campaigns. AudioFile magazine reviewed a recent performance: "Narrator Chris Ciulla adopts a slight accent to illustrate her Lithuanian roots and adds a slight tremulousness to his timbre so that Ona sounds old but still spry and spirited . . . Ciulla's open performance and slightly hurried pacing for the boy perfectly translate his unfiltered but sweet nature . . . Quinn didn't always fulfill his parental responsibilities but Ciulla makes his fundamental decency and kindness clear to the listener."

A veteran of stage and screen, Peter Berkrot's career spans four decades. Highlights include feature roles in Caddyshack and Showtime's Brotherhood, and appearances on America's Most Wanted and Unsolved Mysteries. His voice can be heard on television, radio, video games, documentaries, and industrials. He is a prominent acting coach and a regular contributor to the award-winning news program Frontline produced by WGBH in Boston. Peter served as director of narration for the Emmy-nominated The Truth About Cancer. Peter has recorded over 170 audiobooks, over 100 for children. He has been nominated for an Audie Award and has received a number of AudioFile Earphones Awards and starred reviews. His favorite titles include Toby and the Secrets of the Tree by Timotee de Fombelle, Unholy Night by Seth Grahame-Smith, The Accident by Linwood Barclay, and the Last Policeman trilogy by Ben H. Winters.

Richard Powers has published thirteen novels. He is a MacArthur Fellow and received the National Book Award. His book, The Overstory, won the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction.

Hillary Huber is a multiple Audie Award finalist, an AudioFile Earphones Award winner, and an AudioFile Best Voice. She has recorded close to three hundred titles, spanning many genres. A huge fan of audiobooks, when she's not narrating one, she's listening to one!

Erin Bennett is an actress, a singer, and a voiceover artist. As an actress, she has performed at numerous theaters, including the Pasadena Playhouse, the Arizona Theatre Company, and the International City Theatre. Her voiceover work includes animation, BBC radio plays, video games, commercials for radio and television, and a wide range of audiobooks, including contemporary fiction, mysteries, science fiction, and romance.

Reviews

“Little offers twenty-seven one-punch shockers…The best of them—that is to say, most of them—giddily riff on preposterous premises that one imagines Little tackling just to see if he can pull them off…Little loves sowing chaos by breaking the social contract—and his readers love him for it.”

“Presents a wide range of scenarios with one common goal—to scare the heck out of its readers and listeners…Each story is no more than forty-five minutes and is read by one of seven different narrators, which keeps the narration fresh…Each of the narrators, male and female alike, brings his or her own touch to the narration; most of the stories are read with distinct voices, and the level of energy and emotion ranges from detached to expressive while always fitting the tale. The stories are easy to follow, making this a great audiobook to introduce horror fans to the format.”

“An ensemble of narrators approaches Little’s work by turns, bringing a variety of characters into the fold and helping listeners differentiate between settings…The narrators bring out the different styles of the stories, highlighting innocent, determined, and sinister characters, while the precision and empathy in their delivery serves to make Little’s stories intimate, unsettling, and visceral. Listeners will be drawn into Little’s work even as their feelings of dread or unease grow throughout the collection.”
