When Sharon Langley was born in the early 1960s, many amusement parks were segregated, and African-American families were not allowed entry.

This interesting tale reveals how in the summer of 1963, due to demonstrations and public protests, the Gwynn Oak Amusement Park in Maryland became desegregated and opened to all for the first time. Co-author Sharon Langley was the first African-American child to ride the carousel. This was on the same day of Martin Luther King Jr.โ€™s March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Langleyโ€™s ride to remember demonstrated the possibilities of Kingโ€™s dream.

Sharon Langley became known around the country in 1963 as the first African-American to ride the carousel at Gwynn Oak Amusement Park. She lives in Los Angeles, California.

Amy Nathan is an award-winning author. Her awards and honors include a Clarion Award and a Washington Post Book of the Week. She lives in Westchester County, New York.

For most of his adult life, heโ€™s been told that he has a great voice, so, in 2019, he decided to pursue voiceover work. He currently resides with his wife in Holland, Ohio.

Janina Edwards is a graduate of the acting program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Based in Atlanta, she voices webinars, eLearning, and audiobooks in a variety of genres, including drama, romance, nonfiction, and mysteries.
