Just over 2 years ago I began my journey with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD. Through the struggles there have been times where I thought I would be unable to continue the things I enjoyed: work, soccer, volunteering, socializing. The triggers of April 6, 2020 continued but lessened. I am still brought back to that day by everyday triggers that act as a reminder. When it happens I revisit that beautiful, sunny day where I was redeployed to the makeshift morgue and saw the atrocities of the time. My job and life do not allow me to forget or move on completely from that day and I understand this. I heard moderate PTSD and thought I wouldnโt get through it. I thought I wouldnโt be able to function, but I just function differently now. Writing is a big part of my functioning as I am able to let my feelings flow on paper through my poetry. For me this is healing. This is my second book detailing the struggles and triumphs of managing PTSD. There are common themes, but the content is a bit different. It continues to be a raw and real depiction of my journey. I hope you get lost in the sound.
