Rod Clement's main ambition has always been to draw and to make people laugh. Living in Papua New Guinea for several years as a child gave Rod an intense awareness of nature and his initial work was in the realism mould. Rod soon decided that this was too restrictive and that he wanted to draw straight from the imagination. Rod currently works for the Australian Financial Review drawing daily cartoons, some of which are collected in The Economic Rationalistโ€ฒs Guide to Sex. Rod lives in New South Wales with his wife and three daughters.

Dino Marnika studied drama and teaching in Melbourne and London before embarking on an acting career. He has appeared in theatre productions such as Romeo and Juliet and Solitary Animals. Dino has also appeared in many of Australia's most popular television productions including Blue Heelers, Good Guys, Bad Guys, State Coroner and Neighbours.

Rebecca Macauley is a talented and award-winning narrator. She has appeared in a variety of television programs, including the internationally popular series Neighbours and the Australian drama Blue Heelers. Her work includes the US feature film Darkness Falls and the children's television series Wicked Science. Rebecca has previously narrated Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta and Ursula Dubosarsky's Abyssinia.

Reviews

The Australian authorโ€™s gift for wacky humor will have kids all over the world laughing over this collection of stories. Dino Marnika's and Rebecca Macauleyโ€™s narrationsโ€”whether solo or blendedโ€”add to the fun. Macauleyโ€™s cadences, for example, excel in the silly rhyming story of Edwina, an emu whoโ€™s seeking employment rather than mothering her 12 babes. Marnikaโ€™s sarcasm colors the story of a thoughtful boy whose home experiments, such as calculating how many humpback whales would fit in his bedroom, are great giggle material. A duet of both narratorsโ€™ voices creates silly animal caricatures when Olga the Brolga (an Australian crane) tries to find a dancing partner. Short musical interludes add to the storiesโ€™ moodsโ€”from frolicking to suspenseful. Expand reviews
