Set in Cornwall, coastal erosion and flooding take on a near mythical power as the short stories in this collection weave in and out of the recent past and near future, as lives and relationships ebb and flow with the tide. From one maritime tragedy to another, the community, and three generations of women from the same family, struggle with their over-close affinity for the sea.

Jackie Taylor is originally from London but has lived and worked in rural Cornwall for the past 20 years. She has several jobs and writes when she can, mainly short stories and poetry. Her short stories have appeared in Arachne Press anthologies 'Dusk', and 'Tymes Goe By Turnes', as well as various other publications, including Mslexia and the Stories For Homes 2 anthology.

Sophie Aldred was born in Greenwich. She is best known for the part of Ace in Doctor Who, she has presented children's TV shows and voices Tree Fu Tom and Dennis the Menace. She has appeared in a number of theatre productions. Sophie is the narrator for the audio books of Zed and the Cormorants by Clare Owen, Strange Waters by Jackie Taylor, and co-narrator of Paper Crusade by Michelle Penn and Solstice SHorts Anthology, Words from the Brink.

Reviews

I thoroughly enjoyed dipping my toes into this delightful book. Despite the themes of grief and tragedy it explores these are also magical, powerful, thought-provoking tales that also touch upon important modern concerns such as climate change. And there is just a touch of whimsy that I recognise from the 'tall tales' that have always permeated the Cornish coast. Elizabeth Dale, cornishbirdblog.com Expand reviews
