Summary

This short audio learning experience by Dr Denis McBrinn: narrated by Sara Dylan is designed to bring a clear understanding of what problem solving is, how to do it effectively and to lead you gently into reflection on the level of effective problem solving currently in your life.

"Focus on finding a solution, rather than just dwelling on the problem". Good problem solvers put the focus on finding a solution rather than the problem. Defining a problem clearly and correctly is important - a problem fully stated is half-solved. But most of us spend 80% of the time on the problem and only 20% on finding a solution. We tend to be "Problem Focused" rather than "Solution Focused" because it is easier to blame than act.

This audio learning experience includes a guided process for using left and right brain characteristics for problem solving.

How this audio learning experience works

This audio presentation has been designed using an experiential learning model, Kolb, D. A. (1984): concrete learning, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation.

By taking this approach we hope to cater for all learning styles.

You will be given specific new information in the recording usually as โ€œkey tipsโ€, โ€œexplanationsโ€ and โ€œquotesโ€. You will be led through a gentle but positive meditative reflection process to assist you before conceptualisation and then putting your new skills into practice.

You will be encouraged to return to the recording from time to time to re-listen and reinforce your learning and the desired changes in your life.

Enjoy!
