Find out what stories went verbally from person to person 14th century Spain!
El conde Lucanor is a collection of stories written by Don Juan Manuel, the nephew of King Alfonso X. All the stories have the same structure: young Lucanor asks Patronio, his advisor, for advice about something that worries him and to help him, Patronio tells him a story as an example.
These works are based on popular stories, already known in many countries, that parents have verbally told their children, because at that time, almost no one knew how to read or write.
Reading stories is an effective and enjoyable way to learn a foreign language as you will learn vocabulary and grammatical structures in context, without having to memorize lists of words or study endless grammar rules.
