Colombia’s history is marked by a rich tapestry of indigenous cultures and societies, which laid the foundations for the diverse nation that exists today. Long before the Spanish arrived in 1492, the region was home to advanced civilizations such as the Muisca Confederation, the Quimbaya Civilization, and the Tairona Chiefdoms.
