"El artículo de fondo" ("the feature article") is a funny story by Benito Pérez Galdós in which he looks into the world of journalism, which he knew so well. While a young journalist writes a feature article on serious current issues, the circumstances of his life and his state of mind condition his view. As always, the author presents human and credible characters, and humorously mixes serious themes with the little things that matter so much. Furthermore, as in other short stories, the author gives free rein to his creativity and addresses issues that have always interested him so much, such as love or the denunciation of an ossified society, whose necessary regeneration needs youth rebellion.
