White Pine Books
Arnprior, ON
When Gwen Storie founded The Arnprior Bookshop in 1993, she had no idea of all that she’d have to overcome in order to maintain her beloved readers’ oasis. As the rise of online megastores, the fall of independent shops, and the pressures of a mass-market mentality closed in, Gwen stayed rooted in place, fiercely independent and committed to her community.
The shop’s new name, White Pine Books + Children’s Boutique, celebrates this legacy. It’s a tribute to Ontario’s tallest tree, which grows just minutes from the shop’s door and has survived and flourished against all odds, reaching 13 stories high by today’s measurements. Like the shop, this tree is a proud part of the Arnprior community and a symbol of resilience and determination.
For Jen Rusheleau, Gwen’s daughter and the shop’s new owner, the tree also represents a deep commitment to protecting the planet. That’s why Jen, mother of four, has added a children’s boutique stocked with eco-friendly, responsibly sourced apparel, providing families with a shopping experience they can feel good about.
When you visit White Pine Books + Children’s Boutique today, you’ll be greeted by the same warm welcome and high-quality merchandise that visitors would have enjoyed in 1993. Come and pay us a visit. There’s no telling the heights we can reach together.
